THE MARTINS

Synopsis:

The Martins are the family from Hell. Robert Martin is an unemployed dreamer. He spends his life hoping to win competitions in order to give his wife and children all the things they deserve. Angie, Robert's adoring and long-suffering wife, just wants Robert to face reality. She doesn't want them to be the family people cross the street to avoid. Their two children are Katie, their heavily pregnant 14-year-old, and angelic Little Bob, their 8-year-old son who worships his well meaning but slightly unhinged Dad. And then there's Angie's mum who never tires of telling her unusual son-in-law exactly what she thinks of him.

Trivia:

The film features Ray Winstone as an overly aggressive children's entertainer. Winstone was also in the short film 'Bouncer' with Considine.

This is the first of two Considine films along side actor Lennie James, who plays Police Constable Alex and who played Alan Erasmus in '24 hour party people'.

Considine nearly played the small role of Traffic warden (played by Ronnie Fox) after Director Tony Grounds saw him in a Room for Romeo Brass but was eventually cast as the sarcastic Hatfield Recorder Editor.
