Synopsis:

While treating a policewoman for smoking, hypnotherapist Michael Strother has a telepathic vision of a young girl floating beneath the surface of a stream. The escaped victim of a ritualistic serial killer, the girl has become mute, and Michael is called upon by Scotland Yard to unlock the secrets she holds in order to catch a man who believes he has discovered the key to immortality.

Paddy's role:

Elliot Spruggs, Loner and creepy owner of a mail order model store (Hargrave War Models) who has a immense knowledge and a deep fascination with occultism and black magic and who is aid to the police in the case and takes it upon himself to help find a link to the killer.

Trivia:

The film is adapted from the book 'Doctor Sleep' written by Madison Smartt Bell and published by Grove Press. The film is also known as 'Doctor Sleep' or 'Hypnotic'. Considine went to a real miniature model club as research for the role to see if he could find a character.

This is Considine's second film with Shirley Henderson following their performances in '24 hour party people' They briefly acted together again in auditions for 'Once upon a time in the Midlands' which Paddy eventually chose not to appear in.
