A ROOM FOR ROMEO BRASS

Synopsis:

Twelve year-old Romeo and friend Gavin live next door to each other. They are best mates with a shared sense of humour that helps them to survive in a landscape of comic losers and broken dreams. But their friendship is put to the test by a chance encounter.
After a stranger saves them from being beaten up, the boys are only too happy to help their new hero and pal in his quest to date Romeo's sister. Little do they realise that they are being drawn into a dangerous obsession, violence and desperation, a world that threatens to tear the two friends apart.
From acclaimed director Shane Meadows, A Room for Romeo Brass is a contemporary coming-of-age story that is as funny as it is frightening.

Paddy's unusual accent and paranormal tales for Morell are based on that of Bartley Gorman the gypsy boxing champion who he photographed as part of his degree.

Paddy had only recently learned to drive before shooting this film thus Morell has erratic driving and less than perfect parking skills.

Paddy was to reprise the role of Morell for BBC comedy series Catterick before its telivisation, it never happened and Reece Shearsmith from the TV series 'The League of Gentlemen' played the role instead.

Most of the film was filmed in Calverton in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire.
