"LEAVE BEFORE THE LIGHTS COME ON"

Leave Before the Lights Come On" is a song by Arctic Monkeys and was released 14 August 2006 as the band's third single. Although the song does not feature on the band's debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not,' Alex Turner has stated that it could have been on the album as it follows a similar theme to many of the album tracks. It is likely to mark the end of releases from Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not.

Alex Turner confirmed the release of the single in an interview in NME: "Leave Before the Lights Come On" feels very much like it could be on the album. So we're going to put that out as a single. I remember it's the last song that I wrote about that sort of time, going out and that. My life's not really like that any more.

The video's story was written by and stars Paddy Considine along with actress Kate Ashfield (Shaun of the Dead,) filmed in Sheffield in the Cultural Industries Quarter in July 2006. Directed by John Hardwick who also helmed the video for M.O.R for Blur. The video is again produced by Sheffield company Warp X Films who did the Scummy Man Films for the Arctic Monkeys.

The Video's narrative follows Paddy who plays plays an average Joe walking along a street in Sheffield, when he is almost hit by a falling shoe. He looks up to see Ashford preparing to jump from a building, and races up to persuade her not to kill herself, before she falls instantly in love with him,The thing is...He's married.Trouble ensues.
